I-75 Crash in Kennesaw Kills One

The driver failed to negotiate a bend in the road and left the highway, crashing in a nearby wooded area.

A Kentucky man was pronounced dead on Sunday afternoon after the truck he was driving left Interstate 75 in Kennesaw and crashed through a wooded area, according Cobb County police.

Gerald Nelson, 62, of Somerset, KY was behind the wheel of a 2008 Ford F-350 towing a 2009 Gato flatbead trailer heading south on I-75 just before Wade Green Road just before 4 p.m. Sunday when the truck and trailer failed to negotiate a left curvature for an unknown reason and drove off the highway.

The truck and trailer exited the interstate and continued a considerable distance before coming to an uncontrolled stop in a wooded area, police said.

The county medical examiner will attempt to determine the manner and cause of Nelson’s death.
