Kennesaw Crash Near Crosswalk Kills Stumbling Pedestrian

The 67-year-old man was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when he stumbled and fell in front of a SUV in Kennesaw, police said.

KENNESAW, GA — A 67-year-old man who fell in front of a SUV while crossing George Busbee Parkway died Wednesday night, Cobb County Police said Thursday.

The fatal crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of George Busbee and Ernest Barrett Parkway.

Police said Reginald Williams, of Illinois, was running across George Busbee outside of a marked crosswalk when he stumbled and fell in front of a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The Rogue had been traveling south as it neared the intersection.

The 28-year-old Acworth driver of the Rogue could not stop the SUV in time, and it hit Williams, police said. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Cobb Police's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigating the deadly crash.
