Kennesaw Fall Electronics, Metal Recycling and Paper Shredding Event

In recognition of American Recycles Day, Keep Kennesaw Beautiful will host a community Electronics & Metal Recycling and Paper Shredding Event on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kennesaw Public Works facility on Moon Station Road.

Electronics recycling will be handled by Reworx (a division of Tommy Nobis Center), large metals by Marietta Recycling and on-site document shredding by A1 Shredding & Recycling.  

The event is free and open to all. 

“America Recycles Day is a national initiative which puts a spotlight on community recycling efforts,” said Miranda Jones, Keep Kennesaw Beautiful Executive Director, in a press release.  

“Recycling is the right thing to do for many reasons; it keeps equipment we no longer want out of the landfills and reduces clutter in our homes.  Equipment that is no longer useful often has value that can be recovered by companies specializing in recycling.”

Acceptable items include computer equipment (hard drives are completely demolished in a crusher), small appliances, telephones, cameras, VCRs, typewriters and fax machines.  

Scrap metal items being accepted include plate steel, machinery, car rims, refrigerators, washers, dryers, tubing, turnings, valves, pipe, cast iron, siding or sheet, old tools and lawnmowers. 

Not accepted are tires, household trash and non-electric equipment.  

TVs will be accepted with a fee. 

Secure personal document shredding will be done on-site by A1 Shredding & Recycling; there is no document limit and no need to remove staples, paper clips, etc.
