
Kennesaw's Parks and Recreation Department has again been honored with several awards from Georgia Recreation and Park Association's (GRPA) District 5, which is comprised of over 30 agencies in Northwest Georgia.
The Backyard Campout event held in September at Swift-Cantrell Park received the award as the 2013 Innovative Program. Recreation Division Manager David Pies was also recognized as the District's Distinguished Professional. Awards were presented during a banquet in Smyrna on October 23.
Additionally, Kennesaw resident and longtime volunteer Frank Cullins was recognized by the Programmers Section of GRPA as the Volunteer of the Year. The state award was presented at the GRPA Conference in Columbus on November 6.
