“We are excited to fill a very important need through this new program,” said Michelle Girage, assistant dean. “The classes will provide a safe, non- threatening environment for individuals to learn.”
The literacy course is designed to help individuals improve their reading and writing and develop better communication skills with their families and friends. It will be taught by two highly-trained educators who will offer specialized instruction. Class sizes will be kept small to allow for individual, one-on-one tutoring. The format will allow students to gain courage and confidence in successfully accomplishing their personal activities.
