Last Defendant in Gang-Motivated Shootings Pleads Guilty

Five men have now pleaded guilty to involvement in two Kennesaw shootings which targeted a gang member who wanted to leave the gang.

KENNESAW, GA -- Five gang members have pleaded guilty for their roles in two shootings meant to prevent a fellow gang member from quitting and to increase the gang’s reputation through fear, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Brian Joshua McCary, 21 pleaded guilty to eight counts of violating the state’s street gang act for orchestrating the Nov. 16, 2013 and Jan. 12, 2014 shootings that were directed at the Kennesaw home of a PIRU gang member who wanted out, prosecutors said. McCary was sentenced to 30 years, with half to serve behind bars.

  • Christopher Demontez Davis, 19, of Acworth, who pled guilty in August 2015 to six gang-act counts and was sentenced to 20 years, with 10 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.
  • Timothy Ryan Reddie, 22, of Marietta, who pled guilty in August 2015 to three gang-act counts and was sentenced to 20 years, with five years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.
  • Alexander Davonte Market, 20, of Acworth, who pled guilty in February 2015 to three gang-act counts and was sentenced to 20 years, with 15 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.
  • Kristian Raymir Williams, 20, of Austell, who pled guilty in November 2014 to one gang-act count and was sentenced to five years of probation.

“This case demonstrates not only my office’s resolve when it comes to gang cases, but how powerful Georgia’s anti-gang laws are when properly used,” Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said.
