New Mayor, Council Swearing in Next Week

A reception with outgoing and incoming elected officials will be held after the meeting.

KENNESAW, GA -- Mayor-Elect Derek Easterling and three new city council members will be officially sworn in at the first meeting of the new assembly of 2016.

Easterling, who won the November election with 56 percent of votes, will join newly-elected council members Jim Eaton, Yvette M.A. Daniel, and Jimmy Dickens at the official ceremony on Jan. 4.

Before the new mayor and council are sworn in, outgoing Mayor Mark Mathews and his city council will briefly take care of some final loose ends before handing over the reins to the city’s new elected officials.

Following the meeting, both groups of officials will host an reception at the community center. Residents are invited to meet their new representatives and to thank the outgoing officials for their public service.
