• GDOT studies proposed turn lane on US 78 (theoglethorpeecho.com) — Drivers in and around Lexington could soon see a new two-way left turn lane added along 2.38 miles of US 78 between Bunker Hill Road and Highway 22/Comer Road, a corridor with more than 200 crashes in the past decade. GDOT’s $2.36 million safety project aims to ease congestion, especially during school rush hours, while local leaders continue pushing for traffic lights at key intersections. 
• Chamber launches Patriot Bucks to encourage local spending (theoglethorpeecho.com) — Lexington-area residents may soon find $10 Patriot Bucks cards in their mail, usable like cash at participating Oglethorpe County businesses such as Lexington Marketplace and Rowdy Rooster. Led by Lexington Mayor Ronnie Boggs and the Chamber, the program aims to keep spending local, with some shops even doubling the cards’ value to attract new customers.
