2 Found Dead, Suspect Charged In Domestic-Related Incident In Lilburn

A suspect is facing murder charges after a welfare check led to the discovery of two bodies in Lilburn, police say.

LILBURN, GA β€” Two people were recently found dead in a domestic-related incident after officers conducted a welfare check at the request of an out-of-state caller, Lilburn Police said Wednesday.

Police did not say where the victims were found but said there were two separate crime scene sites.

Officers were first notified around 5:30 p.m. Friday after someone asked them to conduct a welfare check of a city resident.

Police said the case was initially being investigated as a missing persons probe but became a possible homicide investigation three days later.

By Tuesday evening, police said they were working two crime scenes where the bodies were located.

Police did not release the causes and manners of death or identify the circumstances that led to their deaths.

An unnamed suspect was then arrested about 30 miles from Lilburn and was charged on suspicion of murder. The person is in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail, police said.

"The quick resolution of this terrible crime would not have been possible without the assistance of our partners at the Gwinnett Police Department Homicide Unit and the Duluth Police Department Crime Scene Investigations Unit. We owe them a debt of gratitude. The names of the victims and the suspect are not being released at this time, as the investigation is ongoing and family notifications are pending," police said in a news release.
