Bites Around Town: Taqueria Los Hermanos

Taqueria Los Hermanos is a mexican favorite to many local Lilburn residents. (It also won a Patch award for being the best Latin American restaurant in both Lilburn and Tucker.)

Located at 4670 Lawrencille Highway in the Killian Hill Crossing shopping center, the Lilburn restaurant has dozens of entrees including enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas and tortas.

It's been a while since I dined at Los Hermanos, so I decided to go for lunch one day this week with my husband. I wanted to get their home style tamales, which consists of one spicy chicken and one spicy pork tamale using a special home recipe, but the waiter informed me that they no longer had them.

So I decided on the tacos de salmon (a lunch special of two grilled salmon filet tacos with bell peppers, tartar sauce, onions and cabbage), and my significant other decided on the taco salad with ground beef picadillo.

While it was no tamale, the tacos de salmon still satisfied my taste buds and were much better than I expected. The salmon was flavorful and grilled just right, and the rice had just enough spice, too.

And though he liked the salad, my husband complained the shell was too small for his taste.

Despite not being able to finish our plate, we also ordered a sopapilla for dessert. It came with vanilla ice cream and a strawberry, which complimented the flaky pastry well.
