Fun, Healthy Treats for Your Kid's Classroom Parties

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta shares five ways you can give healthy and fun classroom parties this school year.

Back to school means classroom parties, fundraisers and after school events. And with those celebrations come pizza, chips, cupcakes and cookies—not a smart (or healthy) way to party! Healthy celebrations teach kids a valuable lesson about positive lifestyle choices. Smart move, parents!

Here are five ways you can get your kids to be healthy while having fun at classroom parties, provided by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

  1. Ditch the sugary drinks. Encourage water, not soda, sports drinks or juice.
  2. Limit sweet treats. Serve plenty of colorful fruit and veggies instead.
  3. Take the focus off food by planning more activities.
  4. Create a scavenger hunt, do arts and crafts, have a dance party or enjoy extra playground time.
  5. Check out your school’s wellness policy for more ideas—and add your own!
