GA Shooting Suspect Charged With Murder After Man Found Dead In Car

BREAKING: The Lawrenceville suspect in a fatal Lilburn shooting that claimed the life of a Duluth man is facing murder charges, police say.

LILBURN, GA — A 27-year-old Lawrenceville man is facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of another man in the 800 block of Indian Trail Lilburn Road, Gwinnett County Police said Thursday.

Police said Alexis Coria was arrested in connection with the fatal May 19 shooting of Kevin Valdez, a 30-year-old Duluth man who was found dead in a car.

Officers responded around 3:15 a.m. to the shooting in a parking lot, police said.

Undisclosed events leading to the shooting began on Indian Trail Lilburn Road, between Burns and Dickens roads, before ending in the parking lot.

Gwinnett County Jail records show Coria was booked Wednesday into the jail and is being held without bond. He is being charged on suspicion of malice murder, felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault, police said.

Coria is being held for the Walton County Sheriff's Office, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections, jail records show.

The motive for the deadly shooting has not been released.
