Lilburn Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Assault
A man is facing murder charges after being accused of assaulting and killing his roommate at their Lilburn home.

LILBURN, GA β A man is facing murder charges after being accused of assaulting and killing his roommate at their Lilburn home, Gwinnett County Police said Wednesday.
Officers on Friday responded to the Comanche Court home, where police said they saw Jorge De La Cruz, 21, suffering from a head injury. Police did not detail what caused the injury.
De La Cruz, whose other roommate called 911 after finding him with the injury, was then taken to Northside Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The roommate who called 911 told officers a third roommate, 40-year-old Martin Montiel-Moreno, left the scene before they arrived, police said.
While detectives were speaking with the witness, police said Montiel-Moreno approached a Forsyth County deputy and told the officer that police were looking for him.

Montiel-Moreno was then detained, taken to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters and was interviewed by detectives, police said. He was later booked on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery at the Gwinnett County Jail, police said.
More charges were added after De La Cruz died of his injuries Sunday, leading Montiel-Moreno to additionally face felony murder and malice murder charges, police said.
A motive in the assault was not revealed.
