Lilburn Prepares for National Night Out 2013

The start of school isn't the only thing in Lilburn to look forward to in August: There's also National Night Out. 

The annual nationwide event is coming to town once again Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Lilburn City Park. Hosted by the city of Lilburn, SafetySmart Lilburn and the Lilburn Police Department, National Night Out aims to generate resident support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and build positive relationships between police and residents. 

Previous years have proven that National Night Out is a huge event in Lilburn with hundreds in attendance, and it's expected to be bigger and better for 2013. Here's what locals can expect at this year's event: 

• Fifty-five exhibitors are expected to bring resources and safety-related information, which is an increase of 15 compared to last year 
• Demos using K9s and more
• A kids' tool workshop and scavenger hunt
• A vintage car display
• A health clinic offered by Gwinnett Medical and Eastside Medical
• Walmart Vision offers free vision screening
  
• County level agencies and Lilburn community organizations
• Fourteen local businesses and restaurants
• The Gwinnett Fire mascot, Sparky, and the Chick-Fil-A cow
  
• Blue Bell Ice Cream samples
  
• Information on the Neighborhood Watch and the COPS program
