Soccer Player From Lilburn Makes Big Save for U.S. Men's Team
Goalkeeper Sean Johnson led the team to win against Costa Rica and advance to the Gold Cup quarterfinals.

By Scott Bernarde
If you're a soccer fan, you've probably heard of Sean Johnson, the Lilburn native and Brookwood High School graduate.
A goalkeeper with Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire, Johnson made his first official international start for the U.S. Men's Team on Tuesday, July 16, in a 1-0 win over Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Golf Cup.
It was a great start.
Johnson made a goal-saving save off a Costa Rica corner kick that led to a U.S. fastbreak and a game-winning goal by Brek Shea. See the You Tube video and Johnson's comments attached to this file.
Johnson and the U.S. team continues to play in the Gold Cup Sunday with a quarterfinal match against El Salvador, which includes a member of the Atlanta Silverback pro team, Richie Menjivar. See photos of Menjivar on the Silverbacks Facebook page.
Starting lineups for that match have not been released.
Sunday's game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Follow the game live on Fox and Univision, and on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker.
