State Basketball Tournament: Berkmar Boys on Deck, Parkview Girls Win Round One

Berkmar High will play Roswell on Feb. 20, as the Parkview High girls team gears up for round two of the Class AAAAAA state tournament.

Berkmar High School enters the state basketball tournament on Feb. 20, when they play against Roswell High School.

The team's overall record for this season is 16-12. They won their last game against Dacula High in overtime, 52-48.

Now, the No. 3 team in Region 8 heads into the state tournament for its first match-up with the Roswell Hornets, runners-up in the Region 5-AAAAAA finals.

The game is at 7:30 p.m. at Roswell High.

Other Gwinnett County teams in the boys' tournament are:

  • Archer High
  • Collins Hill High
  • Dacula High School
  • Meadowcreek High School
  • Norcross High School
  • Peachtree Ridge High School
  • Shiloh High School, Region 8 winners

In addition, the Parkview High School's girls basketball team is advancing into the second round of the state tournament.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the team -- which won the Region 8-AAAAAA tournament -- easily rolled past its first-round competition, Wheeler High School.

The final score was 70-43, according to Georgia High School Association.

Now, the Panthers face the winner of tonight's (Feb. 20) game between Norcross High and South Forsyth High.
