School starts Wednesday (Aug. 7) in Gwinnett County! The county offers up these tips for those who walk to school and drivers sharing the roads with young pedestrians.

1. Drivers, always yield to pedestrians who are in a crosswalk.

2. Use caution at intersections when making a right turn on red. According to Gwinnett County, 90 percent of pedestrians die if they are hit by a car traveling 40 mph, compared to five percent who die at 20 mph.

3. Pedestrians should be sure to cross the street at crosswalks.
