Stacy Lee Everett, 43, of Covington, a former little league coach and youth pastor, was acquitted during a trial in Walton County last week on a charge of child molestation. The charge was one of 11 filed in connection with incidents of sexual molestation that were alleged to have taken place in Loganville and Monroe. The same victim was alleged in both locations.
According to Alcovy Superior Judicial Circuit Court Assistant District Attorney Cliff Howard, Everett was found not guilty on the remaining charges filed in connection with any incidents that were alleged to have taken place in Loganville. Although a mistrial as declared in the case of the Monroe charges, Howard said those charges against Everett are still pending.
“Mr. Everett was charged in Indictment 12CR-0528-3. This indictment contained 11 counts : Counts 1-2 False Imprisonment; Counts 3-4 Child Molestation; Counts 5-6 Child Molestation; Counts7-8 Sexual Battery Against a Child under 16; Count 9 Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes; Counts10-11 Cruelty to Children in the First Degree,” Howard said, clarifying that in each case where there were two counts, the indictment alleged the same acts but in two different locations - a Loganville address and a Monroe address.

“After the State rested its case, the Court granted a directed verdict of acquittal on Count 5 by stating there was insufficient evidence that the acts alleged occurred at the Loganville address,” Howard said. “After the jury deliberated for approximately six hours they returned a verdict of not guilty on counts 1,3,7,and 10 which are all of the counts that alleged acts at the Loganville address. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on counts 2,4,6,8,9, and 11 and a mistrial was declared by Judge Ozburn.”
Everett was arrested and charged in 2011. He pleaded not guilty in June 2012, but has remained in Walton County Detention Center since his arrest. He remains incarcerated in Walton County at this time.
