GC BOC Agrees to Apply for $600,000 in State Funding for Traffic Congestion Relief
The funding will be used to extend left turn lanes, including on Grayson Highway/State Route 20 northbound at Webb Gin House Road.

On Tuesday (June 18), the commissioners voted to apply for $600,000 in state funding that would allow construction of "congestion relief" projects at several key Gwinnett intersections, including on Grayson Highway/State Route 20 northbound at Webb Gin House Road. This is for a left turn lane extension here as well at some other intersections. Gwinnett commissioners said in a press release that this would allow the county to construct congestion relief projects on state routes in Gwinnett. The state would fully fund the projects under a Georgia Department of Transportation Quick Response contract at a total cost of about $600,000.
The projects will extend left turn lanes on Buford Highway/State Route 13 southbound at South Lee Street, on Scenic Highway/State Route 124 northbound at Jackson Street, on Grayson Highway/State Route 20 northbound at Webb Gin House Road, on Lawrenceville Suwanee Road/State Route 317 northbound at Satellite Boulevard and on Beaver Ruin Road/State Route 378 eastbound on the west side of the I-85 interchange. Gwinnett will also install a new left turn lane on Buford Highway southbound at South Scales Road.
“This is another good example of the state and county working together to get things done,” Chairman Charlotte Nash said. “We expect to have all these projects completed by the end of the year.”
