GHS Marketing Education Program Earns Industry Certification

Four High Schools in Gwinnett, including Grayson High School, earn industry certification for various technical education programs.

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) officials announced that next school year students will be able to enroll in three technical education programs that are now industry certified. One of these is the marketing education program at Grayson High School. 

According to officials the existing programs at four of the district’s schools – Duluth High, Grayson High, Lanier High, and North Gwinnett High – have successfully undergone rigorous reviews by leaders from business and industry to be recognized with this distinction.

The industry-certified programs at the four schools are:

  • Duluth High - Engineering and Technology Education,
  • Grayson High - Marketing Education,
  • Lanier High - Marketing Education,
  • North Gwinnett High - Culinary Arts.
In a press release, GCPS officials said that "the formal certification process strengthens all program components and benefits students in many ways. Students participating in industry-certified programs are ensured participation in programs that have been carefully interfaced with current industry standards, thus helping to increase their qualifications toward successful employment. Schools which pursue this distinction are committed to improving student preparation and ensuring that Georgia’s workforce meets the demands of the 21st century."

     These programs are taught by the following teachers-- 

  • Tim Hemans of Duluth High, 
  • Robert O’Keefe of Grayson High; 
  • Dawn Wood of Lanier High, 
  • Donna Kurdelmeier of North Gwinnett High.
