"Independence" will be a 430-acre, mixed-use development near Bay Creek Park and Grayson High School.

GRAYSON, GA -- Ground was broken Monday on "Independence," a new, mixed-use development coming near Bay Creek Park and Grayson High School.
The mixed-use community will sit at the intersection of Ozora Road and Highway 20.
Developers Stoltz Partners say that, when it's complete, Independence will stretch along both sides of Highway 20. The residential side will be near Bay Creek Park, while the commercial part will run up to the high school.

The development will eventually include about 760 single-family homes and townhomes, with prices ranging from the mid-$200,000s to the $500,000s.
"Independence is a significant new development in one of Gwinnett County’s most desirable locations," said, Phillip Galbreath, one of the partners at Stoltz, in a news release.

Galbreath said the development will focus on the natural beauty of the area, with streams and wooded areas making up about 20% of the development.
There will be two miles of walking trails in the development, according to the release.
Additional neighborhood features will include "pocket parks" and natural green spaces and an array of outdoor amenities including a recreational pavilion with a swimming pool, tennis courts and sports fields.
The commercial portion of the development is more than 90 acres and approved for more than 590,000 square feet of businesses.
New home sales at Independence are set to begin in mid-2017.
