Here Are The Gwinnett County Restaurants That Failed This Week's Food Inspection

GWINNETT COUNTY — Local restaurants and food chains in Gwinnett County near Loganville and Dacula were recently graded by the Gwinnett, Newton & Rockdale Health Department and Georgia Department of Public Health. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70. Check out the latest scores from Oct. 22 - 27 in Gwinnett County.

CUPPOKI in Buford received an “unsatisfactory” score of 46. Located at 3333 Buford Drive the facility failed its Oct. 27 inspection. According to the report, an employee was seen not washing his hands between washing dishes and handling food and utensils on the prep table. He also started to put on gloves when reminded to wash his hands. Stored above ready-to-eat food in the walk-in freezer was unwashed produce, raw meat and raw salmon. The facility’s permit has been suspended for missing more than nine foodborne illness risk factors, according to the report.

Mika French Sushi in Sugar Hill also received an “unsatisfactory” score of 26 during its Oct. 25 routine inspection. Located at 5910 Suwanee Dam Road, the inspector noted in the most recent report that there was pink and black mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine. An employee was also observed not properly washing the in-use cooking utensils after he used them. He instead rinsed them with water in the vegetable prep sink and then took them back to the grill for use. A metal scrubber and tongs were stored in this prep sink, which had food scraps in it. It was not cleaned since last use. The facility is also reusing single-use food containers.

THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY, located at 3333 Buford Drive in Buford, failed its Oct. 22 inspection. The restaurant received an “unsatisfactory” score of 64. According to the report, fruit flies were inside two containers of liquor. “Many avocados” were sliced while still having the sticker on the avocado skin. There were clean plates with food residue on food contact surfaces.
