Man Robbed by Police Impersonators on Highway 124 in Gwinnett
In the wake of a man being pulled over and robbed Monday by a trio of impersonators in unincorporated Snellville, police want you to know what to watch out for.
According to the AJC, at about 10:40 a.m. on Monday a man driving a Direct TV van on Highway 124 was pulled over by a black Crown Victoria with flashing blue lights. Gwinnett County public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith said that "one of the suspects produced a handgun and put it to the victim's head" after they pulled him over on Telida Trail.
One of the suspects reportedly then took tools from the driver's van before the trio fled in the Crown Victoria, the AJC reports.
The suspects were described as follows:

- Suspect 1: Black male, 5'7, 130 pounds and dreadlocks.
- Suspect 2: Black male, 5'5, 130 pounds, scar on the right side of his face near ear.
- Suspect 3: Black female, pink hair that was possibly a wig.
If you are being pulled over and have suspicions about the officer, Snellville Police advise that you check to see if there are PD markings on the vehicle. Occasionally, detectives will pull over a vehicle if there is a violation directly in front of them, but that is not common.
If anyone has a feeling that they are being stopped by someone other than the police, they should do the following:

- Reduce their speed below the speed limit
- Turn on the hazard lights
- Turn on interior dome lights (if at night)
- Call 911 to verify it is a legitimate stop
- Drive to a public area
