Who Is Really to Blame for the Colorado Shooting?

Everything from lax gun control, problems in the mental health care system to Warner Bros is now being held complicit in the shooting in Colorado.

Within hours of the Colorado shooting on July 19, as people tried to make sense of the massacre that killed 12 people at a showing of “Dark Knight Rises." Now the first lawsuit has been filed and it finds a slew of other culprits to blame for the tragedy. Interestingly, the shooter, James Holmes, was not named in the lawsuit.

According to Reuters, Terrance Brown - who was in the theater and avoided being shot, but lost his best friend - is suing the movie theater, the doctors of Holmes and the film studio that produced the movie. Brown blames the theater for not having an alarm on the emergency door that would have signaled Holmes' return and he blames the doctors for not keeping a closer eye on the medication Holmes was on and making sure he didn’t skip any of it. Warner Bros, the film studio that produced “Dark Knight Rises,” is named in the lawsuit for providing a blueprint for Holmes to follow through some of its earlier movies.

Our question here is, do you believe that the movie theater, the film studio, the gun lobby and the doctors treating Holmes were complicit in the shooting? Or do you believe is it time that we, as a society, start expecting people to take more personal responsibility for their actions?
