• Shell to Join Lyons City Council (theadvancenews.com) — Lyons residents in Ward 1 will see a new face on City Council, as James Shell narrowly defeated incumbent Tracy Johnson in a December 2 runoff and will take office January 1. Shell’s term will run through December 31, 2030, following a pair of low-turnout elections this fall.
   

• Toombs County football preparing for second straight state championship game (wjcl.com) — Lyons fans will see their Toombs County Bulldogs chase a second straight Class A Division I state football title next Tuesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Riding a 10-game win streak, the team credits months of preparation and a fearless mindset as they get ready to face Worth County for another championship.
