Arthritis Foundation Slashes HQ Staff by 20 Percent

The organization has struggled financially in recent years, which is why the foundation's executives and board members say the cuts were needed.

The Arthritis Foundation, which has its national headquarters on West Peachtree Street in Midtown, is scaling back by cutting several staff members.

WSB-TV reported that the organization cut 26 administrative positions, which amounts to roughly 20 percent of the entire staff at the foundation's headquarters.

According to the news station's report, the nonprofit organization has seen its share of financial struggles, having been in the red for four of the last five years.

CEO John Klippel got a $70,000 bonus in 2011. He currently has a salary and benefits package of about $508,000, according to the report.

Klippel said the changes position the foundation for growth.
