Atlantans Gather in Piedmont Park to Protest Monsanto

The protest took place Saturday, May 25.

While the Atlanta Jazz Festival was in full swing, some local residents gathered in Piedmont Park on Saturday to protest Monsanto.

Atlanta Progressive News reported the event was held in conjunction with other rallies called March Against Monsanto.

The rallies were designed to protest what activists called "Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods, which can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumors, infertility and birth defects,” according to the organization's website.
