'Canstruction' Gala in Midtown Tonight

Canstruction Atlanta is getting ready to host the Canstruction After Dark Awards Gala at the W Hotel in Midtown on Friday starting at 6 p.m.

“Canstruction,” the art of sculpting using cans of food, has been embraced by architectural and design firms as a way to flex their creative muscles while giving back to their local communities. WSB-TV says that once the canstruction competitions are all over, the cans are donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank and distributed to the city’s hungry.

The Canstruction Atlanta gala, which benefits the food bank, will give out awards in categories such as Best Meal, Structural Ingenuity, Best Use of Labels, Most Cans, Juror’s Favorite, Honorable Mention, and People’s Choice.

Event attendees are encouraged to turn out in their best cocktail attire and walk the red carpet before the awards show. Once the awards are handed out, attendees will be treated to an after party featuring DJs, a cash bar, and a silent auction.
