Child Stabbed in Face Was Being 'Disciplined': Police

The woman who was arrested and charged with child cruelty after allegedly stabbing a 6-year-old child in the face Wednesday told police she was disciplining the boy during the incident, according to a report.

Investigators are still trying to determine how Markie Moon, 45, is related to the Heritage Academy student but believe she is either a foster parent or a relative with custody, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says.

The boy received a large gash by his eye, according to the AJC. He was taken to Hugh Spalding Hospital for treatment.
