ATLANTA -- Establishment at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta has announced plans to renovate and expand the restaurant located near the corner of 14th and Juniper Streets. Between now and early spring, Establishment will be temporarily closed as it reimagines its space to evolve with the mixed-use destination.

“Colony Square’s redevelopment has inspired our team to renew our approach toward the drinking and dining experience at Establishment,” said David Reed, owner and partner of Establishment. “We are thrilled to be part of this iconic transformation and to introduce a new experiential bar and community-driven atmosphere along one of the most vibrant corridors in the Southeast.”

Establishment’s revamp will update the interior as well as the exterior of the eatery, including an expansion of the outdoor patio which will eliminate the existing entryway staircase and increase the footprint of the restaurant by approximately 1,200 square feet.

Establishment’s extended patio will incorporate a new bar with state-of-the-art equipment that can be accessed through The Grove, Colony Square’s new green space along 14th Street, or through the restaurant. The outdoor bar will be called “Tight Squeeze at Establishment” to pay homage to the history of the surrounding area which was once a seedy part of town. After the Civil War ended in 1865, Peachtree Road curved to avoid a deep ravine near what is now 10th Street. When Peachtree Road was straightened, the gully was filled in and merchants had to use extra caution when passing through the bend, noting “it took a mighty tight squeeze to get through with one’s life.”

The interior space of the restaurant will also be enhanced to feature a new look and feel, bringing a swanky lounge atmosphere to Colony Square.

In addition to the physical updates, Establishment will introduce a new menu featuring food and beverage recipes that are unique to the neighborhood. The new cocktail menu will include eccentric drink styles inspired by 1990s mixology. Establishment is currently experimenting with craft soda high balls, Brazilian high-octane soda, and Japanese pop rocks, just to name a few. The management team plans to hire a new cocktail director to oversee the execution of the experiential bar.

While Establishment is undergoing its makeover, the staff will attend education and training sessions.

Upon completion of the reimagined Colony Square, Establishment will offer direct access from its patio overlooking The Grove to the new 28,000-square-foot food hall.
