Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson Retiring As Head Football Coach
Johnson has been Georgia Tech's head coach for 11 seasons. He leaves with a 83-59 record.

ATLANTA, GA -- Paul Johnson, who has been head football coach at Georgia Tech for 11 years, is retiring. A team meeting has been called for 2:30 pm Wednesday, sources have told ESPN. Johnson's retirement comes as a surprise, even in the wake of Tech's 45-21 loss last Saturday to the SEC-championship-game bound University of Georgia Bulldogs.
The 7-5 Yellow Jackets are awaiting a bowl game assignment that would be Johnson's ninth bowl game at Tech.
While the school has not yet made an official announcement, a close friend of Johnson's, Gregg Garrett, who is also a major Tech athletic department donor, confirmed the news to the AJC.
