Georgia Weather Forecast: One Last Dry Weekend, Rain and Storms on the Way

The weekend weather looks familiar. Next week is poised to bring on the rain, according to forecasters. Here's the latest:

ATLANTA, GA — This Thanksgiving has been dry and warm — something we're just not thankful for as the current drought enters record-breaking territory. But all of that will finally change early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

We'll finish Friday with a high near 72 degrees and winds gusting up to 15 mph. Gusts overnight will reach 20 mph, but temps will drop sharply to a low around 41 degrees.

Saturday will be cooler as the strong winds continue gusting at 20 mph. Sunday is calmer, but high temperatures will stay near 63 degrees.

Come Monday, we'll have a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., with showers likely and possibly thunderstorms from Monday night through Wednesday.

Atlanta should see nearly 2 inches of rain by Saturday, with higher amounts north of the metro area.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 63. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 63. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64.

Monday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 58.

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
