Hundreds Of Thousands Attend Atlanta Dogwood Festival

Despite a wet Sunday start, the 83rd annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival brought tens of thousands to Piedmont Park in Midtown.

ATLANTA -- After two days, the 83rd Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival got off to a wet start Sunday morning. When the rains cleared, the festival was in full gear, fishing it’s 83rd year with high attendance to rival records of recent years. More than 1,600 runners joined the Mimosa 5K on Saturday morning, and approximately 200,000 attendees visited the Piedmont Park site throughout the three-day fine arts festival.

“We were all concerned with the weather conditions Sunday morning, but the potential storm turned out to be a non-event,” said Brian Hill, festival executive director. “Safety is our number one priority, but ultimately, it ended up nothing more than a rain shower. Once the sun came out, so did the people, so we closed this year in great shape.”

The 84th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival will return to Piedmont Park April 17-19, 2020.
