I-75 Southbound Reopens At Howell Mill After 'Suspicious Package' Probe
BREAKING: Interstate 75 SB has reopened Tuesday morning at the Howell Mill Road exit after authorities discovered a "suspicious package."
ATLANTA, GA -- Interstate 75 southbound at Howell Mill Road has been reopened after authorities temporarily closed it due to a "suspicious package," Patch has learned.
Police launched an investigation Tuesday morning after discovery of the package, which occurred around the same time through-traffic was closed down on Piedmont Road so that work crews could bring in beams to install in the I-85 bridge repair.
“The Howell Mill exit ramp is shut down,” spokesman Donald Hannah said just after 9:30 a.m., according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Vehicles in the area were being directed to alternate routes but are now free to pass through the Howell Mill corridor, according to local media.
