The Luminary Restaurant At Krog Street Market Is Closing

Breaking: The French-inspired Luminary, the first eatery to open at the site, is shutting down later this month.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Luminary is closing its doors later this month, Patch has learned.

In more than two years of operations, the French American brasserie never roused the fickle Atlanta eaters, especially against the backdrop of smaller and more nimble eateries in the area.

The restaurant opened in August 2014 with considerable pedigree as Atlanta native and “Top Chef: Las Vegas” contestant Eli Kirshtein served as executive chef and partner.

He said that overhead along with the city's "high level of saturation” contributed to the restaurant's demise, according to Atlanta Magazine.

The eatery's final day will reportedly be Friday, March 31.

Merritt Lancaster of Paces Properties, the developer of Krog Street Market, told Atlanta Magazine: “We are sad to see The Luminary prepare for their last service later this month. We appreciate their tenancy over the last two and a half years and wish them the best of luck in the future.”

Krog Street Market is a nearly 100-year-old warehouse that used to be studio space for Tyler Perry. It was renovated in 2014 and opened as a restaurant/food hall featuring retailers, boutiques and market stalls.
