
A man was shot and killed in the 2000 block of Marietta Boulevard Friday on the city's west side, Atlanta police said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.
The victim was driving south on Marietta just before 3 p.m. and "at some point he was struck with a hammer and shot at least one time during what may have been a robbery attempt," Atlanta Police Deprtment spokesman John Chafee said.

"The suspects the fled the scene southbound on Marietta Boulevard in a black midsize SUV."
