MetroFresh to Temporarily Close for Expansion

Eatery taking over Jersey Mike's Subs space.

MetroFresh, which earlier announced plans to expand its footprint into the now-closed Jersey Mike's Subs space next door, will temporarily close beginning Feb. 10 as it begins the build out of the project.

The 7½-year-old eatery, which focuses on fresh foods for health-conscious consumers, expects to reopen sometime between Feb. 19 and Feb. 21, owner Mitchell Anderson told Midtown Patch.

The expansion comes as the restaurant has outgrown its space , Anderson said.

"It was dictated by our business, we were growing and we just didn't have the room to work," Anderson said.

The new footprint will be a total of 2,500 square feet. The renovated space will have a wine and cappuccino bar, a larger, more functional kitchen for two cook lines.

The expansion also will allow for more customer seating — 46 seats inside and 46 seats outside, he said.

The kitchen's expansion means longer breakfast times, he said.

Breakfast will now be served Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to the start of lunch at 11 a.m. and Saturday. Sunday brunch will be available 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The wine selections will expand, too.

Traditionally, MetroFresh offered two dinner specials, but Mitchell said he is looking at expanding the nighttime offerings, too.
