Police Investigate Double Shooting

One of the two victims underwent surgery to treat his wounds, Atlanta police said.

Two men are at Atlanta Medical Center after police say they were shot in the Old Fourth Ward early Monday morning.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Boulevard and North Avenue at approximately 2:49 a.m., according to a police report. Officers arrived on scene and discovered two black males suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim was shot three times in the abdomen and was undergoing surgery some time this morning, the police report said.

The victims were walking on the western sidewalk of Boulevard when two other males crossing over Boulevard got into an argument, one of the victims told police. One of the arguing men pulled out a gun and started shooting at the other man, who fled towards the victims and put them in the crossfire.

Police said in their report that they don’t have any information to corroborate this version of events.

An Uber driver dropped off a passenger right in front of the crime scene just before the shooting and told police his car had been hit by gunfire. Police want to talk to the passenger and believe he checked into a nearby hotel.
