Steven Satterfield of Miller Union wins Best Chef: Southeast crown in 2017 James Beard Awards.

ATLANTA, GA --Atlanta chef Steven Satterfield of Miller Union has won the 2017 James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southeast, Patch has learned. The winners were announced Monday night at the James Beard Foundation's chef and restaurant awards gala.
Satterfield's crown brings the title back to Atlanta for the first time in half a decade. The award, which included chefs from Georgia Kentucky, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, is widely regarded as the restaurant industry's highest honor. To put it another way, Atlanta has (finally) won the culinary Super Bowl.
Chef Ryan Smith, who helms Staplehouse on Edgewood Avenue, was also a nominee for the prestigious award. The local firm Meyer Davis won best restaurant design / renovation for their work on St. Cecilia in Atlanta.
