There's Something Fishy About This Flight Delay

A Los Angeles-bound Delta flight had to wait at the gate a little longer than usual due to some unusual circumstances.

MIDTOWN, GA -- Passengers bound for Los Angeles via Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport had to wait 30 minutes longer than they expected so that workers could get rid of a fishy smell permeating the aircraft, according to a report.

Delta flight 1219 had to sit on the tarmac for an extra half hour because of the smell left behind from previous cargo, CBS Atlanta reports.

FlightAware data for the flight indicates it was originally slated to take off at 1:40 p.m. Atlanta time, but was delayed until 2:25 p.m. due to the smell. The flight will take four hours and 21 minutes.

It’s not clear what “previous cargo” could have been responsible for the smell, but FlightAware data shows the aircraft involved most recently left Los Angeles for Atlanta just before 9 a.m. Wednesday and landed just before 12:30 p.m.
