Tree Falls on 7th Street, Knocking Out Power and Crushing Cars

After another heavy round of storms on Friday and Saturday, a large tree on 7th street pulled away from its roots onto a power line and a few neighborhood cars.

Midtown Patch was provided photos from the scene during the overnight hours.

According to reader, Steve Gower, the, "tree fell spontaneously on 7th between Myrtle and Penn, during the 1am hour. "  Gower informed Midtown Patch that residents in the immediate area lost power and that "several cars were smashed."

Georgia Power worked during the early morning hours on Sunday to restore power and repair loosened power lines.  Police were also on the scene clearing an area under a telephone pole that received some damage as the tree fell.

There were no injuries reported from the scene, according to a area resident.  The attached photos were sent to us by Steve Gower, and can be found on the Midtown Alliance Facebook Page
