One of the south’s most beloved culinary establishments made history on Tuesday morning with a sales milestone in Atlanta.
The one billionth waffle to be sold at Waffle House was served up at 10:04 a.m., according to the company’s Twitter account. It’s taken the restaurant chain just about 60 years to hit the billion mark, going from a single location in Avondale Estates in 1955 to over 2,000 restaurants in 25 states along the way.

Asked how the restaurant chain knew which location would have the honor of serving waffle #1,000,000,000 and handing out a commemorative plaque to the customer who purchased it, Waffle House simply told one inquiring Twitter user that it was “waffle magic.”
The happy customer and the historic plaque can be seen in the tweet below.
