What's Open, Closed in Midtown for Christmas

Administrative offices and the Atlanta Streetcar are being affected by the holiday break.

MIDTOWN, GA -- Various entities around the Atlanta area are changing their hours of operation during the Christmas season.

City of Atlanta offices will close Thursday and Friday, and will also be closed on New Year’s Day. Police, fire and other services essential for public safety and health remain open.

The Atlanta Streetcar will use the following schedule:

  • On Thursday, December 24, the Streetcar will run its regular schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • On Friday, December 25, the Streetcar will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • The Streetcar will resume normal weekend operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, and normal weekday hours of 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28.
  • On Thursday, December 31, the Streetcar will run a modified schedule from 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to accommodate the large crowds expected to attend holiday events in the Downtown area.
  • On Friday, January 1, the Streetcar will resume operations from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The Streetcar will return to normal operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2.

Solid waste collections will continue as normal during the week.
