Man Arrested For Damaging Atlanta Police Cars: Authorities (Updated)

Vandals attacked several police cruisers earlier this week across the street from a Midtown precinct.

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police officers reporting to work earlier this week were shocked when they discovered that several APD cruisers were damaged.

A vandal smashed the windows on seven police cars and a police van parked at the corner of Peachtree Street and Pine Street across from a homeless shelter, WAGA-TV reports.

Police arrested a man found inside the van, a spokesman told WSBTV.

"The person was under the influence of narcotics and we believe it was crack cocaine, and he just went on a binge of destruction," Police Sgt. Warren Pickard told the TV station.

A printing business next to the lot also had its window broken, the TV station said. A police precinct is nearby.
