Obituary:
Marcus A. Brooks, Jr., age 87 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Minister Harold Savage will officiate. Burial will follow at Haynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Loganville. A retired Plumber with the Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local # 72, Mr. Brooks was a veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Ivey Brooks, Children: Wayne Neal Brooks, Sharon McCurry, all of Monroe; Cherie Ann & Douglas Lowe, Blue Ridge; Sisters: Agnes Pace, Conyers; Katherine Hopkins, Loganville; Brothers-in-law: James F. & Carol Ivey, Ernest E. & Shirley Ivey; Sisters-in-law: Shirley Ann & Mitchell Swanson, Monroe; Geraldine Johnson, Monroe; Grandchildren: Kyle Lowe, Jason Lowe, Heath Brooks, Chris McCurry, Shaun McCurry, Josh McCurry; and 8 Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
