A hint of fall could be detected Saturday morning on Court Street where patrons shopped at the Monroe Farmers Market while the sweet scent of freshly popped kettle corn filled the air.
Farmers offered a selection of vegetables from their late summer harvests and bakers sold treats like pumpkin spice cake. Dried gourds and UGA-themed paper beaded jewelry were more signs that autumn is on the horizon.
The Monroe Farmers Market, recently designated as one of the most celebrated markets in the county, is open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The final day of the 2013 season will be Sept. 28.
