Volunteers Needed for Monroe Pocket Park Work Party

The work is scheduled to take place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Downtown Monroe has another work party planned for the small pocket park being built between two of the buildings in the heart of the city. According to city officials, the plan is for the park to have benches to sit on, wireless Internet access and some additional landscaping for the enjoyment of city residents.

Volunteers began last month with demolition and grading. The next work party is planned for Saturday, July 20. The work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The brick wall has to be rebuilt and then the furniture and fencing will be added.

The park is located between two building off Broad Street between Court and East Washington streets.
