• Carter introduces bill awarding Congressional Gold Medal to the fallen patriots of Thiokol (house.gov) — Nahunta is directly represented in a new federal push to honor workers killed in the 1971 Thiokol plant explosion, with one of the 30 fallen, Cyrus Emory Roberson, listed from Nahunta. A bill by Rep. Buddy Carter would award the Congressional Gold Medal to the Thiokol Memorial Museum, recognizing the sacrifices of these largely Southeast Georgia workers and their families.
