Care-a-Thon to Feature Cobb Families
Last year, the event raised more than $1.5 million for research and programs to help children with cancer and blood disorders.

TheΒ annual WSB Care-a-Thon, whichΒ raised more than $1.5 million for research and programs to help childrenΒ with cancer and blood disordersΒ at the Aflac Cancer Center,Β will feature patient families from four Cobb cities this year.
FromΒ 5 a.m. July 25Β until 6 p.m. July 26,Β 95.5 FM and AM 750 News/Talk WSB listenersΒ will hear the stories ofΒ families from Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta andΒ Smyrna.
During the broadcast, listeners callΒ 888-750-2772Β or visitΒ www.choa.org/careathonΒ to donate to the Aflac Cancer Center and read stories of patients likeΒ Declan Boustead, 7, of Kennesaw.
Boustead, who is fightingΒ acute lymphoblastic leukemia,Β is in his third year ofΒ treatment at theΒ Aflac Cancer Center.
"I have been able to go to cancer camp where I got to try archery and play tons of games," heΒ said. "This winter I am going to meet Santa and go ice skating with different groups who help kids like me with cancer. So I guess if I have to have cancer right now, at least I get to have some extra fun sometimes."

- Acworth:Β Mary Elizabeth Tankersley, 11, wasΒ diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of brain cancer,Β in her right distal femur.
- Kennesaw:Β Luke Cornille, 4, has beenΒ fightingΒ acute lymphoblastic leukemia for a year.Β Lyris Thomas,Β 5, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in April 2012.
