Donate Diapers for Cobb Diaper Day
The Cobb Diaper Day Committee hopes to raise awareness that many families have trouble affording diapers for their children.
The Cobb Diaper Day Committee is holding its third annual collection of diapers for poor families throughout October. A communitywide collection will take place today at 5 p.m. at Glover Park in Marietta Square.
Cobb Diaper Day Committee volunteers will pick up the diapers, or you can bring them to Glover Park. The diapers will be given to the Center for Family Resources (C.A.M.P.), , Reconnecting Families and the YWCA of Northwest Georgia.
The Cobb Diaper Day Committee, headed by Barbara Hickey, founder of the Etiquette School of Atlanta, is asking the business community, individuals and nonprofit organizations to collect diapers for donation. In the past two years, Cobb people donated 120,000 diapers.

Many families have the daily stress of choosing between food and diapers. Prolonged wearing of a wet diaper can cause diaper rash, and a crying baby adds stress in the home. The Cobb Diaper Day Committee notes that:
- Food stamps do not pay for diapers.
- On average, diapers cost approximately $100 per month.
- Day care centers require parents to provide their own diapers.
- Local nonprofit agencies can dispense diapers only four times a year because of limited resources.
“Raising a family today is difficult enough without the added burden of wondering where the necessities of life will come from,” Hickey said. “Oftentimes it is the little things in our lives that make the biggest difference. Together, we can help hundreds of families in Cobb County by this single act.”
